The Gift of Healing
Have you ever seen someone healed? Do you need healing in your own body? In this blog, I’ll be talking about the gift of healing. It’s a gift that is available to us through the power of the Holy Spirit. There’s nothing you need to do to earn it: it’s free!
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us, we can experience healing in our bodies. It even says in the Bible that by His stripes we are healed! (Isaiah 53:5)
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
An Overview of the Gift of Healing
For most people when they think about the gift of healing, they think that you have to be “special” to operate in it. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! It is a GIFT from the Holy Spirit: we all have the option to operate in it.
It’s also important to remember that the Bible is full of accounts of Jesus and his disciples healing the sick. Jesus even said that we would do “greater things” than He did! I don’t know about you, but I am filled with faith when I read that passage of scripture.
From blindness to leprosy, to physical ailments and mental torment, we see examples of God's power to restore and make whole. These stories aren't just ancient history; they’re true! They point to a deeper truth about God's love and compassion.
Does Divine Healing Still Happen Today?
Exploring the Power of Prayer & Belief
As Christians, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we have power and permission to heal the sick! So, the simple answer is: yes! Of course, divine healing still happens today! Healing is a part of the very nature of God. From the beginning of the story in Genesis, God has been creating ways to bring healing and hope to a world that is broken. Frustration and confusion can come when people don’t get healed right on the spot.
As a traveling evangelist, I’ve seen so many people healed in moments of prayer or during ministry time. As you can see in the videos I’ve linked, I’ve literally watched the blind see, the deaf hear, and even tumors disappear. God really is able do to exceedingly, abundantly beyond what we can ask dream, or think.
Just because we don’t always see the immediate answers to our prayers doesn’t mean that we should stop praying or stop believing that Jesus still heals. Through the gift of faith and the gift of healing, we will see more people healed than not!
“ Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
Supernatural Stories about The Gift of Healing
Wow! Every time I watch that video my faith gets stirred!
Another one of my favorite stories about the gift of healing was when I felt the Lord clearly tell me to have my friend Joshua pray for healing during a ministry time. While we were both on a missions trip, I had been asked to preach and my friend Joshua was commissioned to take photos to document what God was doing on the trip. However, I discerned that God wanted to activate Joshua in the gift of healing. So, I set the stage for him to pray for over 100 people…without Joshua’s permission.
At that moment, Joshua wasn’t too happy with me…but what happened next was amazing! 60 people out of the 100 people in attendance got healed! Joshua didn’t even lay hands on anyone: the spirit of God was moving through him in radical ways!
To make it even better, the next day I preached for over 1,200 people. I heard the Lord say to lay hands on every person in the service. In faith, those who were serving alongside us stayed to lay hands and pray for over 1,000 people. To our great joy, person after person was being miraculously healed by the power of God! Hallelujah!
