FIVE PART SERIES: Life-altering mindset shifts from Dr. Marilyn Hickey

Marilyn took what was available to her, coffee, treats, and the Bible to disciple the lives of many women in her area which led to massive breakthrough in her life!

Marilyn’s home Bible studies turned into a divine opportunity to share for five minutes a week on a local radio program. As Marilyn was faithful with the little that God had placed in her life, He quickly opened up more and more doors for her to be used mightily in His Kingdom.

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” -Luke 16:10

Friends, I’m not sure what God has put in your life TODAY, but be faithful with it! Guard, steward, and honor what He has given you and more will follow.

Know today that no matter what comes in the future, we will face difficulties and trials, that is promised in scripture, (James 1:2-4) and in the next video you can hear practically how to face these difficulties when they come.

“In Pakistan I had about 120 people threaten my life, and you have to make the decision, did God call me to do this? If I’m going to be a martyr I’m going to be a martyr!” said Marilyn Hickey.

Starting in ministry, women were not speaking or preaching, and Dr. Hickey faced great pushback to what God was calling her to do. These moments prepared her to be able to make the statement she makes above. When the Lord has calls you to do something, no matter what natural circumstance may arise, press in and allow Him to bring you forward.

In our interview together, Hickey made a profound statement; she didn’t allow those words, opinions, and thoughts of men to be a difficulty to her, she says that is our choice! She proceeded to share Psalm 5:12 which says, “For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield,” this was the reality that she lived in.

Whatever your coworkers, friends, enemies, family, or strangers say about you, it is your option today to take that on as a difficulty, because it surly isn’t difficult to the Lord! He is forming strength and character within you through it.

Every heartache, hardship, and trial can’t compare to the extraordinary joy that comes from seeing lives changed by the power of the gospel. I have seen this personally around the world, and Dr. Marilyn Hickey agreed that bringing fellow brother’s and sister’s to Christ is the most impactful thing you can do on this earth.

In the book of Hebrews chapter 11, we read how we are pilgrims and foreigners on this earth, but we belong to a heavenly homeland. Friends, we are not of this world! Dr. Hickey shares in part three how you can see salvations in your daily life. On top of being a televangelist, Marilyn still holds the coffee, cookie, Bible meetings at her house. She knows how important it is to evangelize here in America as it is overseas, ALL have fallen short and need Jesus.

“Who would have thought, our church started with a little Bible study, that today we would have an international ministry,” Hickey said. In part three of our interview, she shares about the seed of faith, and how it WILL move mountains in your life.

Dr. Hickey was connected with Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Dr. Cho (pastor of the largest church in the world), was on the board of Oral Roberts ministry and so much more. Being around people with vast faith infects you and your life. In my opinion the saying, ‘you are who you hangout with’ is true! Look who you are surrounded by and see how they could be influencing your life in one way or another.

What is your legacy? How do you want people to remember you and your life? Do you want people to remember you for your finances, looks, connections, or how you influenced the Kingdom of Heaven?

I know that my greatest desire is to be one who loves Jesus with everything inside of me, and Jesus is the Word made flesh. “You start saying it and it starts reading you,” Hickey said. The more you say out loud and meditate on the Word of God the more it will become a reality in your life. The first book of the Bible that Marilyn memorized (yes you read that correct, entire book not just passage,) was the book of Proverbs which she said changed her life!

I’ve noticed overseas how common it is for followers of Jesus to memorize whole books of the Bible because of the way the view the scriptures. It is literal life to their bodies and they don’t want to live without the Word of God. If their Bible is taken or they are imprisoned, they want to know that they have it memorized and written in their hearts.

If you want to start memorizing the Word, start with the book of Psalms. Grab a pen and paper and write down what the Lord speaks to you as you memorize the scriptures. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, so confess scripture declarations and promises over your life everyday.
