HUNGER: For Those Who Know There's More - Radio Interview
Quincy Burt: Welcome in friends. This is Voice in the Kingdom, and we are here on a Friday morning on the Box2Radio Network. We are grateful for each and every one being tuned in. Those on the podcast, this is episode 201 of Voice in the Kingdom. We are so grateful for your support and the opportunity to bring to light the beautiful teachings in the kingdom and also to highlight folks doing kingdom work all over the world, especially good friends like Caleb Wampler, who is an evangelist, and he also runs Kingdom Encounters International. We’re so grateful that he is coming back on the broadcast again with us. Caleb, how are you doing this morning, brother?
Caleb: Hey, doing fantastic. It’s so good to be on the call with you.
Quincy Burt: Yeah man, we’re glad to have you again. I know that especially over the last couple of days, there are some things been going on in your world that, honestly, I would not have been mad at you one bit if you had to reschedule. But, buddy, I am so glad that you have come on with us, and we are going to get into some of that in just a little bit. But I want you to share with us about how you recently have launched this vision that the Lord has given you to go after one million souls in the next year. So, tell us a little bit about that and how Kingdom Encounters is going after one million-souls in 2021.
Caleb: Yeah, you know just the whole thing really started back when I was 14 years old.
Quincy Burt: Wow.
Caleb: The Lord had given me a vision at that time and told me that I would be a part of a coming billion-soul harvest, and as the years went by, I heard a livestream from Banning Liebscher, with Jesus Culture band. He said that there’s somebody in the livestream listening to this that the Lord told you that you will be a part of a coming billion soul harvest. That was the first time I had ever heard the phrase out loud. I was sitting there at 29 years old. I was in the front row of the Jesus conference, there with Michael Koulianos, and Lou Engle was the speaker, and he said, “There’s somebody in this room who, there may be a couple. You’ve been called to a billion-soul harvest.” I went straight back to the green room, where he would be at after the service, and I said, “Brother Lou, I got to ask you a question,” and I told him the story of this burning desire on my heart, and he said, “Guys, you have to come hear this.” Got the whole room there, 15 people around. I said, “But Brother Lou, I have a question. What is it? What is this billion-soul harvest?” He said, “Oh there was a prophesy by a man named Bob Jones, years ago, and the Lord told him that there would be a billion-soul harvest, and there would be three things that would happen before it would begin.” Well, I went on Google right after the service and found out that the first thing that was going to happen before it would begin would be the workers in China could listen to worship music on their watches. Of course, the Apple watch just came out just a few years ago. At that time, I was thinking oh my goodness this is happening. It was shortly after that, that we launched the ministry Kingdom Encounters International. Now in the last 3 years, we’ve seen 258,000 people come to Christ. I heard the Lord just recently, and He said, “Would you believe me for a million souls?” I was looking around going okay, so, COVID is going on, the whole world is shut down, there’s all kinds of stuff going on, and I said, “You know what? You better believe that I will believe you for a million souls.” Because you can’t get to a billion until you get to a million. Hallelujah! Lets do it.
Quincy Burt: Hey man! Well, that’s so awesome. From what I understand, just recently launched this with your book and had a tremendous response at a church, as far as the fundraising efforts towards this. But at the same time, I will let you transition into what’s going on in your personal life, right now, with your wife Harmonee. So, tell me a little bit about that amazing experience at the church. From what I understand, you sold out of your books. So now I am very excited that I have a copy in my hand. But tell me a little bit about that experience and then transition into what’s going on with your wife, Harmonee, right now.
Caleb: Yeah, you know I went into a small church in Nebraska, in Columbus, Nebraska, and they had brought us in for a 5-day conference. They heard we had cancellations because of COVID. We had 21 of 22 service cancellations in a row because of the virus and churches shutting down. And so, this church said, “If you have an opening, we are still going to meet.” So, we said, “Okay, let’s go.” So, we got there, and the presence of God just saturated everybody. There were miracles, healings. We had an offering. We announced that we were going to reach a million souls, and we said, “We don’t know any billionaires or millionaires that we are aware of but know that one person can write a million dollar check.” Outside of that, we said, “It would take 950 people giving $1,000 dollars. We could reach this goal of reaching 950,000 people, just about a dollar a person.” So that was our budget, and we announced it while we were there. We had 6 people walk up to us, give us a $1,000 check. A 20-year-old kid walked up and gave an $1,800 check and said, “This is for souls.” Then had a farmer give a $5,000 check. We had over $12,000 come in after the announcement of this.
Quincy Burt: Amen.
Caleb: That doesn’t even include what was in the church offering yet. We haven’t heard from the pastor yet, but he has already said that there’s already a few thousand dollars come in with that as well. So, we believe that well over $15,000 came in on the outset of this announcement. We are celebrating. We announced the book and had 200 books at a church with 150 people and sold out of books. And we had our brand-new shirts there and sold over 100 of our t-shirts as well. You know, we are like Lord this is amazing. These miracles are happening. People are getting saved. People are getting reconciled with unforgiveness, miracles and healings. We are all celebrating. The pastors are there at one in the morning on the final night. He leaves the house, and I go check my phone after this wonderful celebration. And I see a text from my wife, and she said, “Honey, something is wrong. Can you give me a call?” And I gave her a call.
Quincy Burt: And for people that don’t know the reason why you were interested in something “wrong,” not just because she said something was wrong, but she is also pregnant, and you already have 3 other kids at home.
Caleb: Yes, yes definitely. So, we have 3 kids, 5 years old and under, and then she’s also pregnant, 25 weeks pregnant right now. So immediately, I thought of her and thought of the baby, and I said, “Well, okay, what’s going on here?” She told me she was leaking, and she couldn’t control her bladder. She couldn’t figure out what was going on. And so, I said you need to go to the hospital immediately. So, I started calling my parents. I’m in Nebraska. She’s in Florida. They live about 6-7 minutes away from our house, but I know it’s two in the morning so are they going to answer the phone? I called and called and called and called. Eventually one of them answered, and I said can you please go to the house immediately and watch our kids. My wife needs to go to the hospital. So, she goes to the hospital, and they realize that there is amniotic fluid coming out and rush her over to this specialized other hospital via ambulance. And you know, I stayed up all night talking to family members, praying, trying to get figured out what is going on. Long story short, she is now in a hospital, and they have said that she will be there until the birth of the baby, which is anywhere from one day to three months that she will be in that hospital.
Quincy Burt: Oh my goodness.
Caleb: And so we immediately started praying that the Lord would just supernaturally heal the amniotic sac so that the baby will just be there, and she could come home, and everything would be back to normal. But we find the timing interesting that we declared that we are going to go after one million souls, and we announced it, and the next day, this happens.
Quincy Burt: That’s what I was thinking.
Caleb: We live in miracle world here with the ministry. We have seen the blind see, the deaf hear, the cripple walk, the mute speak, cancer leave, and we said, you know what? Why not with us? Why not right now? This will be a testament to the Lord. We announced it last night to our friends to start praying, and we are believing in a miracle for her as well.
Quincy Burt: Well, we are believing with you, and we will have some intercessors here that will take that on as well. But you know one of the parts that you were sharing about this going on in pregnancy, the doctors, of course we know whose report to believe, but the doctors say that it isn’t something that repairs easily. That it doesn’t repair by itself, but you heard something else from a doctor that it did just happen.
Caleb: Yeah, we did. I went over last night and saw her for the first time in 6 days after being on my trip. The kids can’t even go see her, so her heart is just torn right now. She wants to see her kids; they have never been away from her for more than 48 hours. So right away, we don’t even know if it is possible, but we need to pray that this sac will just heal, and angels of the Lord will go in there and perform some surgery supernaturally. So we started praying that and turns out this nurse walks in the room. And she’s not even a Christian, doesn’t believe in the Lord or anything, but she walked in last night, right before I got there, and told my wife, “You know, I don’t want to get your hopes up, but there was this one person a while ago that was just supernaturally healed and was able to go home and went to full term with their baby.” She goes, “I don’t even know why I’m telling you this, but I did want to tell you that.” My wife said, “Well that is going to be me too. I am going to be number two.”
Quincy Burt: Harmonee needed to hear that. You know, I got to watch just a little bit of that this morning of you guys sharing that. It was powerful. Obviously, there were a lot of emotions going on of course thinking of your other kids and all of that. But we are believing that the Lord is going to take care of that, and she will be able to come home and be with your kids. And your family will be whole, and you will be able to get after these souls. You already know that the enemy is going to hit you where your heart is, and that is why we know that he can’t win. Amen. The reason why we were actually bringing you on, and the timing of this, of course the Lord worked it out that we already got some of our intercessors on praying and for this situation going on right now, but the reason why we brought you on the schedule is because you just released your first book. You talked a little bit about how it sold out at that church. Let’s talk a little bit about it, Hunger: For Those Who Know There’s More. Tell me a little bit about the journey toward writing that amongst all the other ministry that you do, and what the Lord was working on you to write this book, and why you wrote this book.
Caleb: Yeah, definitely. You know I had something birthed in my heart years ago. I worked at a ministry, Christ For All Nations. I was Daniel Kolenda’s personal assistant. The ministry founded by Reinhard Bonnke, who just went to be with the Lord in December. In that ministry, you felt that there was just something that was just caught. Sometimes you can teach things in the classroom, and sometimes you can just catch things living life with people that are changing the world. In that season of my life, the Lord was just captivating me in a special way. I began to write notes and thoughts in those seasons and even into the time into launching the ministry Kingdom Encounters. And as we did that, these truths just started coming through my heart of how it’s all about Jesus in everything that we face in this life. Especially, you look at the season like right now with COVID, and race riots, political turmoil, and the world seems like it’s on fire in so many ways, and yet, you can rise right above all that by having a hunger for the things of the Lord. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” We live in the kingdom of God in another place, another realm, and we can go right to Christ, and we can view things from his perspective. Ephesians 2:6 says, “We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.” We have an aerial view, a heavenly view of what’s going on. A lot of times, we try to fight it from the ground up, looking at the problems in front of us. We have been given a God who is above it all. He loves us, and he is for us. And as we hunger for Him, we have the promise in Jeremiah 29:13, that if we seek Him with all of our heart, we will find Him. So we’ve got to get hungry. That’s really where the stirring of this came from. I wrote it over a few years process, and it took longer than it probably needed to, to get out.
Quincy Burt: Well, God’s timing brother.
Caleb: But now that it is out, man, I am just excited to get this burning message into people’s hearts and hands.
Quincy Burt: Well, that’s the part that I am hearing right now, is that you said it took longer, but the Lord knew that it needed to come out in 2020. I mean, what a better time when people are searching for truth, and they are hungry for truth that this book comes to the forefront. You mentioned, of course, that you used to work for Daniel Kolenda. He wrote the forward for this. We had Daniel on when he was talking about his recent book, Slaying Dragons, and got to talk to him about that. We also talked to Chris Garcia, who was his assistant at that time too. We really enjoy the ministry there of Daniel Kolenda, of course, you can hear his influence on everything that you are doing as well, and how the Lord is working through that. But when you wrote this book and you said that it took longer, but as you decided that it come together and be realized now in this season, what kinda has been the response? I know you had sold out at that church, but what has been the response you’ve been hearing from people that have been picking it up and reading it.
Caleb: Yeah, you know, I have heard a lot of things from people, who have been picking it up, have been saying, “I couldn’t put it down,” or, “I knocked it down in one sitting or two sittings” because they are getting their hands on it, and they are just being stirred.” I had one person that said it took them like 3 weeks because they bought it as soon as the first day it was released, and they said, “Every time I would try to read past the next few paragraphs, I would have to go back and read them again and say Lord why can’t I read the next paragraphs” because they were so disturbed by the words of their own state of where they were in life. They said, you know, I really need to get this, and they kept rereading and rereading and rereading the stories. There’s a blend of history from famous men and women of God, who have gone before us. There’s my personal experiences with the Lord. I encountered him a lot growing up as a child and a teenager and into college. Then also at the very end of the book, there’s a lot of stories from people who have had present day encounters with the Lord. A lot of times, we think that encounters with the Lord are something that are far off, and oh that was just in revival, or at Azusa Street, or that was just in the Bible, but it’s actually happening all over the world, and it’s happening today as well. And so I really just wanted to stir people’s hearts for this, that the Lord wants to encounter them and wants to become one with them.
Quincy Burt: Amen. Well, you spent the early chapter really making people think about that. You come after them and said, “Am I stepping on your toes yet? Is this you yet?” I really liked the way you grabbed people with it, and then you went into talking about your daughter and when she’s hangry. I really liked that response because I have 3 young children as well. So, talk about equating that hunger and that emotional response that we should have when we are hungry enough to really get after the Lord. Because it is different than natural hunger. When you eat something, and you point this out in the book, you eat something in the natural, and you feel satisfied. And you point this out. Instead, when it comes to the kingdom when we eat something, we want more.
Caleb: Yep. You know with the things of earthly food, you need your 3 meals a day, or your 5 meals a day, or if you are intermitting fasting, maybe you need a few less, but either way, you get hungry again every time you eat. You know, with things of the Lord, you’re never satisfied, and you have to keep eating and keep partaking and then you keep realizing there is more. My daughter, it’s funny, even to this day, at the time I wrote this she was slightly younger, but she’s still the one in the family that gets hangry. I ask my son what is hangry, and, “It’s when Eliana gets hungry and angry.” She will not stop, and the whole world will know that she is hungry. It doesn’t matter what you give her. It doesn’t matter what you try to offer her. She will not stop crying until she gets food. It’s quite funny even now at 3 years old, she’s still the same way.
Quincy Burt: And that’s such a beautiful example of what we need to be.
Caleb: In this parallel, we can see ourselves in the story, but when it comes to spiritual hunger, there has to be a hunger within you that I will not be denied. I will not be satisfied by anything else but a move of God in my life by looking into the eyes of the one that I love, Jesus Christ, and letting him satisfy the longing hole in my heart, the desire for more letting Him in. Once I do feel like I’m at as much as I can take, then expand my capacity God. I need even more. Take me deeper, further, higher, then I could have ever understood. This truth with my daughter being hangry was really a secret ingredient to this thing because she would not stop until her demand to be satisfied was complete. If we have something inside of us that will not be stopped until our demand to be satisfied is complete, how would that change your personal life? How would it change your family life if you hungered for the things of the Lord and did not get satisfied by the spiritual hors d’oeuvres that are out there with our emails and little booklets and thoughts for the day. What if? What if it had to be Him that satisfied us? It would change everything about who we are and our families.
Quincy Burt: Yeah, that’s so good. You know Eliana is a perfect example of that Snickers commercial, “You’re not you when you’re hungry.”
Caleb: That’s so true.
Quincy Burt: That’s awesome. You know, as I was going through this book, you go into each chapter you ask the question, “Are you hungry?” But then, in chapter 4 and 5 you say, “What are you hungry for?” So why did you make that distinction, and why did you feel like it was necessary or that calling to ask that question in every chapter?
Caleb: You know, there are a lot of things we can be hungry for in life. There is even this element that we often don’t think about, you know, where we can be hungry for the things of the Lord, without even being hungry for God himself. As I mentioned before, in our ministry we see signs, wonders, healings. We had 18 paralyzed people walk in one night in a place called Pakistan, where we had a 133,000 people gathered in one meeting. In one night, over 92,000 people came to Christ that night. It was beautiful! We had 139 people healed of eye problems and eye issues, and 119 people were delivered from demons over the night. I mean, it was just one of those moments that you will never forget for the rest of your life. And as we travel around, we see this all the time. Well often times with the Lord, we can just be hungry for the miracles. We can be hungry for the goosebumps that we feel in a special service. We can be hungry for a conference or an impartation or for a revival meeting or for a worship song, you know. And often times, we miss the point, that when we are hungry for Him all that comes with it. But when you’re hungry for Him, you are going to be satisfied by Him and Him alone. He says in John 6 that, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” But yet, we settle sometimes even for the lesser things of the faith. Not that they’re not great. But they are part of Him, but He is really the point. And so, I thought that was the distinction that needed to be made. Are you hungry for Him? What are you hungry for?
Quincy Burt: That’s really good.
Caleb: The Lord wants to satisfy you, and may He do it in Jesus’ name.
Quincy Burt: Amen. And you also make a great point when you’re talking about adding Jesus to our life when we already have 50% in there instead of unloading and letting Him have our 100%. So, I felt like that was a very important part as well and talking about how instead of just adding Him, let’s get all of Him. Let’s fill up completely with Him. I love that.
Caleb: Amen. You know, we often times say, “Alright, I want to be full for Jesus,” but we realize that we have our 30%, 40%, 50% of us in there. And then we are like, “Alright Jesus, go ahead and add the other 50%, 60%, 70% and make us 100%,” you know, and what we don’t realize is that’s not actually how it works at all. We want to be emptied of ourselves so he can live. Paul said, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives within me.” What a powerful distinction that is. Who is the one who knows God’s will? He is. We want him to live through us. We want to be united with the Lord. 1 Corinthians 6:17: “We want to be united with Him as one in spirit.” That really is the key to this whole thing. It’s saying, Lord, live your life through me. I want to be one with you. I want to lay my life down. I want to pick up my cross daily and follow you with everything that I have.
Quincy Burt: Yes, oh my goodness. Well, you share a lot of stuff in here: a lot of testimonies, a lot of different things, even from you know experiences from history like you mentioned, Jonathan Edwards, you quote Raven Hill, you talk about Even Roberts and some of those. What is one of your favorite stories that you shared from some of your personal communication with some folks that you shared in this book?
Caleb: Yeah, you know I hear back often from the Lester Sumrall story I shared. He was an essential American village doctor back in the day. He goes to this village, and there’s this witch doctor that has a hold on the entire community, and he says, “You know what? I cast you out in Jesus’ name, and I set you free today.” And that demon leaves the witch doctor, and the witch doctor loses all its power. The village is set free from the oppression of the witch doctor, and so Dr. Sumrall he goes back to his room that night, and all of a sudden, everything starts to get a little bit crazy in his room. Things start moving around. There’s this cool vapor that fills the room, and he was like ‘what is going on.’ And he senses the familiar spirit, and it was the same demon that he had casted out from the witch doctor, and it came to torment him. So it moves the room around a little bit. It moves his bed to the middle of the room, and so he says, “I curse you and tell you to get out in Jesus’ name,” and so the demon leaves. But when he does that, he realized that his bed was still in the middle of the room, and that’s not where it’s supposed to be. So he says, “Devil, come back here in Jesus’ name and put my bed back,” and the demon came back and moved the bed back to where it was supposed to be. Then he says, “Now get out in Jesus’ name.”
Quincy Burt: Wow. Come do some work for me before you go.
Caleb: That was pretty powerful, but it’s a great example of becoming one with Christ. I’m not even going to give an inch to the devil in Jesus’ name.
Quincy Burt: Amen. Man, and you know, something like that it sounds absurd to most people, but in the kingdom, we know that’s nothing. That’s just using that power, that governmental power, that we have as heirs in Christ that we get to say that and believe that and claim that. And brother, I know that’s what you are doing right now in claiming what the Lord has for you in healing for Harmonee and to get you back on this mission that the Lord has called you to, for the souls that are already tagged and spoken for the kingdom. So, brother I know there’s a lot swirling around right now, and I know you already know the timing of it, and why it’s coming. I know that you are ready for it. We’re so grateful that you’ve come on this morning. I wanted to give you these last couple minutes we have together though, if there is anything specific that you want to share that the Lord has laid out on your heart this morning.
Caleb: Yeah, you know, in Matthew 7:21-23, there’s some seemingly men of God, some miracle working men of God, that go before the Lord and say, “Lord, we’ve done all these things for your name. We’ve come before you. We’ve casted out demons, healed the sick. We’ve done all these amazing stuff.” This is what it says here in that verse, “Not everyone who says ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the realm of heaven’s kingdom. It is only those who persist in doing the will of my Heavenly Father. On the day of judgement, many will say to us, ‘Lord, Lord, don’t you remember us? Didn’t we prophesy in your name, didn’t we cast out demons, didn’t we do many miracles?’ But I will say to them plainly, ‘Go away from me you lawless rebels. I’ve never been joined to you.’” Or other versions say, ‘Depart from me. I never knew you.” And often times, we think that the prophesy, the miracles, the signs and wonders, which are all great and they really are from the Lord, but that’s not really the point. The distinction God makes in that passage is depart from me, I never “knew” you. And what we have to realize is that God wants a relationship with you, and He wants a relationship with me. He wants to know us. How dreaded would it be if we try to advance God’s kingdom but miss God in the process? I think that is really the heart cry of this season. The Lord has spoken to me a lot of this timeframe and this day, and I really believe there is a purging going on right now in the body of Christ, as well as in the world. We have to get right before God. We can’t even get right before God without God because we need Him in everything. We need Him to fire His presence to go through us. The Bible says in Hebrew 12 that “everything that can be shaken, will be shaken.” In this season my friends, there’s so much going on, but we have to get before Him and allow Him to purify us and get us ready because He’s coming back for a bride without a spot or wrinkle. I’d rather He gets me cleaned out now then having to do it later on you know. So, let’s get purified before the Lord and get hungry for the Lord, and allow Him to minister to our hearts and to make us one with Him. So that’s what he is really trying to do. He’s trying to prepare his bride so he can marry us. Hallelujah.
Quincy Burt: That’s so good. Well, brother, remind folks how they can get in touch with your ministry and follow with you and partner with you, and also how they can get a copy of Hunger: For Those Who Know There’s More.
